A few hundred years ago, Man asked God if he could switch places with Him for just a few seconds, so that he could know what it was like to be God, and God could know what it was like to be a man. God declined the offer, explaining that once man became God, he might not want to change back. But Man insisted that he only wanted to taste omnipotence for a just few moments. So God agreed, and the change was made. But Man refused to give up his power. And since that time, Man has been God, and God has been Man. Just recently have both parties become unbearably uncomfortable with the whole arrangement.
